Bringing back 1997

We got a TRAMPOLINE!!!

The year between 6th and 7th grade I jumped on our trampoline Every. Single. Day.  ...for HOURS!!  I didn't weigh myself, mostly because I don't remember having a scale and also because I was a kid and didn't think about that as much as I do now.  At the time I had no clue, but I lost so much weight that summer!  I was an overweight kid, but looking back at pictures you can really tell how much I slimmed down!  My neighbor/best friend, Kyle, and I jumped on it all the time.  We played games of who could jump longest or highest and also a game where we would have to go to our bottom then knees then stomach then back and then back to our feet... the hard part was trying to do it without jumping up in between.  I had so much fun!  I finally talked Jeremy into getting one for our kids me!  There was an awesome sale and I batted my eyes :)  The next morning we set it up and I started jumping... here's a pic of my awesome skilz lol!  ...and of post-jump bliss...
 Talk about a workout!  I jumped off and on for 10-15 minutes and was worn out!  The rest of this summer is going to be FUN!!

I also took some before pics and measurements.  I took the measurements on Monday and and the pictures yesterday.  The pictures were an eye opener for sure... definitely gave me motivation to make changes!!
Today, on the PiYo schedule is "Sweat" ... let me tell ya, I've been sweating so I'm curious how this will go! lol!

Starting PiYo

I started PiYo yesterday!!  Yesterday was a 40min video of the fundamentals of PiYo.  She went over all the poses and what they should look and feel like.  I have a lot of work ahead of me before I can do the poses like they do or hold them as long as they do.  I pretty much do all the modified versions, which I'm completely fine with because it's still hard and I'm still sweating in the end.

Today's workout was lower body... but there was a point during it where my arms were shaking, too!  The lower body workout is 25min long.  It seemed to fly by!  They have a countdown in the lower left hand corner of the screen, which I love!  I'm totally a time watcher and to have that there is nice.  We were doing these downward dog splits and all I wanted to do was be in childs pose, but I saw there was only a couple minutes left and thought, I can do this for a couple minutes! (but it was still really hard for me!)

I took measurements yesterday, I'm going to have to have Jeremy take some pics tomorrow.  Also, tomorrow I will show you our new "toy".  I'm SO EXCITED!!  It totally takes me back to my youth!

I had a terrible lunch today- as in, Jeremy suggested getting food from the bar (which is like a diner by day) and I said sure... what did I order?  A pizza burger with pickles and an order of cheeseballs... 1,375 calories later... but it was soo good.  This evening I went out with a few friends to organize a baby shower for my friend Kylee, who's having twins!!  She ordered a cheeseburger pizza.... I didn't have a single piece!  ...and I didn't feel deprived, either.  I'm going to have some spaghetti squash for supper- my FAVORITE!

Impatient

Every day I weigh myself and every day I expect to weigh less... like a significant amount less.  The last 3-4 days I've been hovering around the same number and it's been making me feel discouraged.  I've been logging everything I eat into MyFitnessPal and I've been staying under my goal (minus 1 day- oops!)  I've been making sure I have at least a 1600 cal deficit ... so why is it not working?!  I think it's this type of impatience that has caused me to fail in the past.  I'd see the work I was putting in but not see the movement on the scale fast enough and just quit.  What I need to do is take a step back and understand that I'm making good choices and everything will fall into place... seriously, do I really expect the scale to drop a pound or two every day in the second week? ..especially after losing over 8 pounds last week... lets get real, probably not going to happen.

Along with my changes in how I eat, I need to start working out.  I really haven't done much in that area, yet.  Yesterday, I went for a walk with my friend Kylee and it was very nice.  As much as I'd hate to admit this... I haven't been on a walk in a long time.  I haven't done anything active in a long time!  Not to make excuses... but man, I have been BUSY!!  I just text Kylee to see if she wants to walk again today and since I have the PiYo DVD's... I really want to start those!  I can think of 100 things I should be doing... *like the dishes and laundry*!  ...but I guess those things aren't going anywhere- HA!

Yesterday, I took pics of myself in the scrub top that is the next size smaller... it's actually two sizes smaller but they don't have the size in between.  The scrub tops I wear now were bought just for me when I was pregnant with the twins... and yep, I still wear them!  I wear scrubs laundered by the facility because I go to surgery.  These are the little things that I can't wait to change.  I want to be able to fit into smaller scrubs at work.  I should have taken pics of my pants too because I have to wear elastic waist pants that taper at the ankle... oh yeah, sexy.  All the drawstring or half drawstring/half elastic pants that kinda flare at the ankle are all smaller sizes and don't fit me.  So, instead I'm stuck in a huge top (that basically fits- ugh) with a weird v neckline that shows my boobs off half the time and elastic taper crazy pants.
 There's a little view of our locker room, pretty awesome orange, huh?!  This top is like skin tight right now... hopefully in a couple months (or less) it won't be!  Also, what do you think of my haircut?!  I buzzed my head for Kylee and I'm letting it grow back now.  I might keep it short for awhile, I kinda like it!  ...Welp, time to do something productive!! :)

59 days to go!

So, I'm 1 week in and I have 59 days till my birthday.  I'm pretty proud of my week.  I lost 8.2 pounds this week!  I was a little over that on Friday but I didn't stay as focused this weekend... although, I didn't go crazy... I just didn't track as well.

I received my PiYo DVD's in the mail!!  I was supposed to get a bonus "Hardcore on the Floor" DVD but that didn't come with the package... I called yesterday and they said they'd send it right away!  -Awesome!!  The challenge group starts August 4th, but I think I'm going to start before then.  :)  I'm pretty excited because I have some of my friends joining me!  I already knew two people in the group and now I have two more people joining in!

The DietBet starts tomorrow!  I weighed in last night though.  They open up the "weigh-in" two days before.  They give you a secret word that you have to write on a piece of paper and have in your pictures.  You take two pictures... one on the scale, showing the weight and one full body picture.  After taking the picture of the scale and seeing my toes... I'm thinking that a pedicure should be in my very near future!!

I need to take some "before" pics ... and hope these are the LAST "before" pics I ever take!!  I'm also going to take some measurements.  It's just a couple other nice things to see change along with the scale! :)

30 B4 30

Hey friends!!  I'm back!  My daughter is done with treatment and she's doing great! :)  It's been a very busy 9 months.  Lot's of driving and hanging out in hospitals... it is all kinda a blur now and we are so happy to be home!

So, guess who turns 30 this year?!?!  Yep!  ME!  My current goal is to lose 30 lbs before my 30th birthday... which is September 18th.  That's 64 days away.  I started this goal on Monday.  I apparently had a lot of water weight or something because today is Wednesday and I'm down 6.8 lbs already... kinda weird but I'll take it!!

I've been listening to Jillian Michaels podcasts some on my trips back and forth to Mayo.  She always says "calories in - calories out" ... so, you need to count the calories you take in and the calories you burn and to lose weight you have to have a deficiency.  My sister gave me her BodyMedia armband to use.  It measures a lot of things; calories burned, activity levels, steps, and sleep.  It measures the calories you burn throughout the day... your body burns calories even just sitting around.  This is good to know because I think it's way more accurate than plugging in my activity into the MyFitnessPal app and seeing what it estimates I burned.  I also became a cool kid and got a smart phone.  The armband has an app (what doesn't), so I can link the armband to my phone and see my calorie burn at anytime during the day.  I also have the MyFitnessPal app and have been tracking my calories consumed there.

Here is my plan:  I'm going to wear the armband and track my calories burned and track my calories consumed.  Here is what it looked like yesterday (I didn't put the armband on till about noon because I was charging it).

I couldn't get the "snack" area of my food log on my screenshot but it included sweets I had added on from the night before... I technically ate them after midnight and didn't want to add them onto that day's log.  Also, I was really busy around lunch time and ate the watermelon on my way to work.

Here is the math that goes along with how I plan to lose 30 pounds before my birthday.  When I started it was 66 days away.

3500cal = 1pound
30pounds = 105,000cal

So I need to burn 105,000cal in 66 days.

105,000/66=1,591

I rounded up to 1,600... so, I need to have a 1,600 cal per day deficiency to reach my goal.  Yesterday, I had a deficiency of at least 1,724cal.

I have 2 workout systems that I'm going to use.  I bought Jillian Michaels Body Revolution.  It's a 12 week system and has 15 DVD's.  There are 3 phases, 4 weeks each.  Every week builds up more and more.

I also bought Piyo, which is a combination of pilates and yoga, but is more intense.  Tia, a girl I work with, has been doing the 21dayfix and started Piyo.  She has had great results (like losing 120lbs!) and started coaching.  I decided to join her "challenge group" and do Piyo.  I haven't received it in the mail yet but it should be coming soon.  The challenge group starts August 4th.

Then I found out Mandey, a great friend from childhood, has been doing the 21dayfix, Shakeology, and a bunch of other workouts.  She has had fantastic results with her hard work, as well!  She has extra Shakeology and is sending me some to try.  I figured, why not?!

ALSO, I joined another dietbet!  It starts July 20th!  If you want to join, it's the one hosted by Heidi & Chris Powell.  :)

As you can see, I'm using every resource I can to help me reach my goals.  I will not fail!!!
